Ensure the best results and minimize potential side effects pretreatment & post Electrolysis treatment

Divine Electrolysis Of Wallingford | Ashley Gaetan, certified professional electrologist

Pre-treatment:

  1. Consultation New Clients:  It’s essential to have a consultation to discuss your medical history, skin type, and treatment expectations. Even if you had one with another Electrologist, to ensure all information was said we do schedule consultations for all new clients.
    • Please be respectful and ask friends to schedule a private time for consultations with us instead of joining your appointment with you and interrupt your treatment. I cannot give a treatment and give a consultation to someone who is interested in Electrolysis at the same time. To give each my full attention to both parties, please schedule separately.
  2. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water before your electrolysis appointment is essential. It helps keep your skin hydrated, which makes the treatment more effective and comfortable. Aim for at least eight glasses of water per day in the days leading up to your appointment.
  3. Dehydration: Avoid sodas, coffee, or other caffeinated drinks on the treatment day to ensure optimal hydration.
  4. Avoid Sun Exposure:  Limit sun exposure and avoid tanning beds prior to treatment to reduce skin sensitivity and risk of pigmentation issues.
  5. Hair Length:  Typically, hair should be a few millimeters long for effective treatment. Avoid tweezing or waxing for several weeks before your session.
  6. Skin Care:  Keep the treatment area clean and avoid applying lotions or creams immediately before treatment. On the go products such as face cleansing wipes or witch hazel wipes are helpful.
  7. Rushing To Appointment:  Try to avoid rushing to keep your appointment, as this will make you tense and stress-filled. To make your treatment more comfortable, allow yourself ample time to arrive at the office to sit and relax for a few minutes.

Post-treatment:

It is important that you care for the skin properly after an electrolysis treatment.

Please refrain from rubbing, scratching, squeezing or touching the treated area.

  1. Avoid Irritants: Do not apply cosmetics, soap or hot water to the treated area for a period of at least 12 hours.

  2. Cool Compress: If there’s any discomfort or swelling, applying a cool compress can help. Use an ice pack or a face ice roller. Please apply it directly to the treated area for about 5 or 10 seconds then remove it for a few seconds. Repeat this sequence for about 15 to 20 minutes.

  3. Sun Protection: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for 48 hours.

  4. Moisturize: Keep the skin moisturized to aid in healing and prevent dryness or irritation. Use aloe.

  5. Avoid Makeup: If possible, avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection.

  6. Red, Swollen or Irritated: It is normal for the skin to appear red and it may be slightly swollen. If, after several hours, the treated area continues to feel red, swollen or irritated, repeat the ice treatment and gently apply either Bactine (for normal skin) or Sea Breeze (for oily skin), using a cotton ball. If you find that your skin breaks out following the treatment, it may be necessary to apply an antibiotic ointment or cream. Any irritation of the skin after treatment is temporary and will usually disappear within a few days, with proper care.

I am, at all times, personally interested in the success of your treatment. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Just remember, there’s a reason electrolysis has been around since 1875, and it’s because it works!
